On the tools, on the plansTwenty years ago, we started Vortex Insulation because we saw a problem in the Bay Area market. Contractors were getting burned by unlicensed installers who created callbacks, voided warranties, and failed inspections. And homeowners were paying for insulation that didn't solve their real problems — they'd get attic insulation and still have hot rooms, high energy bills, and dust everywhere.
The reason? Most insulation companies were focused on selling product — spray foam, batts, blown-in — without understanding building science. They didn't understand the building envelope: air sealing, vapor barriers, thermal bridging, or how insulation actually works as part of a system.
So we built Vortex differently. We started with building science first. We studied how buildings perform. We learned thermal imaging diagnostics. We developed the SITE framework — a repeatable system that addresses Sound, Indoor air quality, Temperature control, and Energy efficiency on every project.
We became licensed specialists (Lic #1048978), not just installers, and invested in Comfort Scan thermal imaging so we could diagnose problems instead of guessing. We built our reputation on one principle: do it right, pass inspection, and stand behind the work.
